TICA Celebrates National Women’s Day by Highlighting TICA Founder Georgia Morgan

On June 22, 1979, the International Cat Association, Inc.™(TICA) was founded by Georgia Morgan and a handful of cat enthusiasts. Their dream of building the most progressive, flexible, and innovative cat registry in the world came true when The International Cat Association (TICA) was formed.

Through many ups and downs, Morgan led a group of cat enthusiasts with her strength, determination, and resilience. “TICA started from very humble beginnings as the spontaneous dream of a few that evolved into reality,” said TICA Founder Georgia Morgan.

Morgan led cat enthusiasts to form TICA by “recognizing the abilities of our contemporaries, accepting change as inevitable, and meeting the daily challenges without hesitation. I can say, and I stand firm on my convictions, that you can accomplish anything if you believe in yourself,” continued Morgan.

Since that day in June 1979, when TICA was declared an international cat association, the growth pattern has consistently increased, based on numerous indicators such as shows, exhibitors, revenue, members, club charters, and registrations.

TICA’s first show, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, was held just a month later on July 28, 1979, in Fort Lewis, near Tacoma, Washington. The first international region confirmed outside of North American was Japan. A little over eight months after TICA formed, the first international show was hosted by the “All Japan Club”, on March 2, 1980, in Nagoya, Japan. Since then, TICA has grown to have members in all 50 states of the United States, as well as Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
